What's new at MU? 

  • Mumbai University application 2022 for UG courses are now open. The last date to register is June 20
  • MHCET Law 2022 dates for five-year LLB and three-year LLB revised once again and the last date of application is extended till June 22, 2022.
  • University of Mumbai conducted MUCMET 2022 exam on May 31 in online mode. MUCMET exam is conducted for admission to the BMS+MBA (Integrated) programme. Earlier the exam was scheduled to be held on May 21, 2022, but due to an unforeseen situation, the exam was postponed. 

Mumbai University admission 2022 is completely merit and entrance-based for all its UG, PG and doctoral level courses. MU admission was completed successfully for the 2021 session followed by the release of its first, second and third merit list for UG admission on August 17, 25 and 30, respectively, followed by a few more lists. Last year, the sale of UG admission form took place from August 5 to August 14 and the online submission of admission forms along with the pre-enrolment form took place from August 6 to August 14. MU 

Mumbai University offers over 200 UG, PG, diploma, doctoral, and certificate programmes in various fields, such as Engineering, Arts, Science and Arts. All these are offered via over 50 Departments, 12 specialised centres, 781 affiliated colleges, two main campuses, two sub-campuses and two Model Colleges. This 160-year old University also offers education via distance learning from its Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL Mumbai University).

MU Admission 2022: Highlights

MU admission process usually begins in the last week of May every year. But MU 2021 admission saw a delay because of the ongoing pandemic. The admission process for the academic year 2021-22 started on August 5 for UG courses and on August 12 for PG courses. Informally known as Mumbai University (MU), it has seen a 104% increase in undergraduate students and is considered one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students.

Mumbai University Admission Dates 2022

MU admission dates 2022 are not out yet since the admission process is yet to start. University of Mumbai started its admission process for the 2021 session (in June) and the final merit lists were out in August. The schedule for Mumbai University admission process 2021 is mentioned in the table below along with some of the important exam dates for academic session 2022:

College CutOff

Mumbai University offers a five-year Integrated LLB programme through its 40+ affiliated Law colleges. Admission to LLB programme is based on MHT CET Law marks, followed by MHT CET Law Counselling (CAP Counselling), which is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai. The institute-specific qualifying cutoff is announced after the declaration of MHT CET Law 2021 result to manage the seat allotment process.

The seat allotment process is based on the college cutoff and the candidate's preference for courses and colleges. The MHT CET Law cut offs are generally declared in four rounds of CAP Counselling based on closing marks. The cutoffs are released for the MH and OMS quota, which are further divided into Open, Open-EWS, SC, OBC, etc. categories.

Note: Candidates must note that the closing cut off marks for LLB programme are declared out of 150.

The University of Mumbai (MU) releases multiple merit lists every year followed by a counselling and document verification process to offer admission to students in MU affiliated colleges. Over 700 colleges participate in the Mumbai University admission process. Mumbai University merit list 2021 are released for admission to around 743 affiliated colleges in programmes such as FYBA, FYBSWA, FYBCom FYBSc, FYBMS, FYBVoc, FYB Library Science and FYBPA.

Some of the top colleges affiliated to the Mumbai University which offer admissions to the UG and Integrated programmes are Jai Hind College, Institute of Forensic Science, Ghanshyam Das Saraf College of Aarts and Commerce, HR College of Arts and Commerce, Narsee Monjee College, among others. 

Earlier, Mumbai University released its third merit list on August 30, 2021. While the second and first merit lists 2021 were out on August 25 and August 17, respectively, on its affiliated colleges' websites. In addition to the officially announced three merit lists, a few affiliated colleges where seats remained vacant also released a spot or fourth-round merit list for 2021 admission. The merit list of Mumbai University will have the names of students who were shortlisted basis the marks they have scored in their last qualifying examinations. Additionally, students must note that Mumbai University releases separate merit lists for UG and PG courses. Stay tuned to this page for more updates on MU merit lists 2021.

Candidates, who have applied for admission to the Mumbai University LLB programme, can check their admission results on the MHT LLB's official website. Mentioned below is the step-by-step process to check the same:

Step 1: Visit the official website of CET CELL (cetcell.mahacet.org).

Step 2: Click on 'LLB- 5years' mentioned under the 'Under Graduate Courses' header on the right-hand side.

Step 3: On the next page, click on ' Check Allotment/ Vacancy/ Merit List' and then on the 'Institute-Wise Allottment List' 

Step 4: Select round, university and college to check Mumbai University LLB cutoff for various affiliated colleges.

Mumbai University Third Merit List 2021 (Out)

After the cutoff reaching the highest-ever at 100% in the first list, MU third merit list is expected to give some respite to students. Mumbai University Merit list OUT, what next?

After the release of the merit list, candidates who have their names mentioned in them must get their documents verified. In this process, candidates will have to submit their original documents for verification on the basis of which their admission gets confirmed. This is a very important step and must be completed within the timeline mentioned by Mumbai University. For students who got shortlisted under the first merit list, the document verification window will close on August 20, 2021 at 3 pm. Once the document verification process is over, students will have to make payment of the admission fee to claim their seat in the desired college.

All the candidates shortlisted in the merit lists are required to appear for Mumbai University counselling 2021 to secure their seat in the opted course. For admission 2021, the counselling session will be conducted online due to the ongoing pandemic. MU first merit list 2020 saw a spike in the cutoff for Science programmes, while a marginal rise was seen in other courses.
